It’s Monday, 2nd of December. Today we woke up with a knot in our stomachs. On Saturday, various experts included our short film among their favourites in their blog predictions for the nominations of the Goya Awards 2020. It boded well but we wouldn’t relax until the academics announced their final word.
It wasn’t 12pm yet when the knot finally untied: Homomaquia nominated for a Goya in the category of best short animation film for the 34th edition of the Goya Awards 2020!
We would like to thank the film academy, but also congratulate David Fidalgo Omil, Abano productions and El Gatoverde productions.
This young author’s message has been listened by the academics. His charcoal has smudged the way so that they never forget his cry for freedom, his denounce of animal cruelty and homophobia.
In less than two months we will know the final decision of the jury. We are aware that the other nominees (Muedra, El árbol de las almas perdidas y Madrid2120) deserve this award just as much, given that their short films are also filled with relevant messages for the audience. The decision won’t be easy.
Good luck to all the nominees.
